Burial Services

Direct Burial $1995

A direct burial includes the professional service of a funeral director and staff, removal/transfer of remains from the place of death within a 20 to 25 mile radius, arrangement fee, minimal preparations of remains (for identification purposed only), topical disinfection, dressing/casketing (optional; additional fee may be involved), alternative fiberboard container, procuring the necessary permit for burial, supervision to cemetery.


The following charges and fees are not included:

Family selected casket, hearse, cemetery fees, outer burial container (required by the cemetery), death transcript(s), clergy, and pallbearer(s).

There are different services that you can choose for a loved one's burial, depending on your individual needs and preferences

Graveside Service

Immediate Burial

Immediate burial means that your loved one will be buried or entombed without a public service or gathering

Visitation

Visitation, also called a viewing, wake, or calling hours, allows family and friend to gather in a room with the departed loved one in a closed casket so they may say goodbye or offer their support and sympathy to the bereaved.

Funeral Service

Funeral or memorial services can take place at a funeral home, in a church, or even at your home. The service is a ceremony which serves to celebrate, honor, and remember the life of a the deceased. A funeral service can be uniquely personalized to reflect the individuality of your loved one.

Direct Burials

Direct Burials are a simple dignified option for families who prefer a quiet and respectful farewell without a formal service. At Schenectady Direct Services, we understand that saying goodbye doesn't always need to follow tradition. Our direct burial services offer privacy and straightforward arrangements, while ensuring that their loved one is treated with the highest level of care and respect for those who prefer simplicity during a deeply personal time.


This service includes the essential elements of burial:

Transportation from palace of death, minimal preparation, a basic alternative container or minimal casket (casket will vary based on selection), arrangement, procuring documents, permits, cemetery of choice (fees apply) without the addition of embalming, viewing, or gathering at the cemetery. Refrigeration and custodial will be charged after 24 hours. Gratuites for four (4) pallbearers.


Graveside Services

A graveside service offers a heartfelt and peaceful way to say goodbye, taking place at the cemetery. This intimate gathering provides space for final prayers, reflection, and shared moments of remembrance as your loved one is laid to rest. 


At Schenectady Direct Services, the graveside services include:

  • Transportation of your loved one from place of death
  • Minimal preparation
  • Casket (selected by family)
  • Procuring documents such as the burial permit
  • Services of our Funeral Assistants 
  • Pallbearers (6 mandatory)
  • Hearse
  • Clergy / Celebrant / Cantor (optional)


Families may personalize with meaningful touches such as:

  • Lead speaker to pray, sing, recite, and/or reflect
  • Floral arrangements to reflect the season and/or reflect your loved one’s spirit (casket spray, standing end piece sprays, stemmed tulips, roses, etc.)
  • Music selections to comfort and connect
  • A poster sized photo to honor and celebrate their life


These services are ideal for those who wish to honor a life simply, yet meaningfully. The graveside setting allows for a quiet, dignified farewell surrounded by the natural beauty of the cemetery regardless of the type of burial, be it a faith-based, non-denominational, or personal in nature.
